Student Performance Task Assessment Using Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) Techniques: An Application for 9th Grade Chemistry Course

Abstract

In this study some measurement and assessments problems in the application of the student performance task that is one of the alternative techniques of measurement and assessment were solved. The first of problems was to determine criteria that were based on the assessment of the student performance task. The second issue that was analyzed in this study was to calculate the weights of criteria for assessment in the student performance task. Another issue of the study was to measure and assess as a holistic of the student performance task. Application of the study includes the elements topic that is the 9th grade chemistry course. In this study multiple criteria decision-making techniques that are TOPSIS and AHP were utilized in the application on the measurement and assessment of the student performance task. TOPSIS technique was used in the selection of criteria that are essential for measurement and assessment of the student performance task. Weights of the domains of learning that are cognitive, affective, and psychomotor were calculated by the AHP technique. Besides weights of the criteria that are based on the student performance task were determined by the AHP technique. According to the results of the study weights of the domains of learning that were calculated are as follows cognitive, affective, and psychomotor, respectively. Weights of group of the performance criteria were found as follows elements properties, preparation process, content, and presentation, respectively. According to the results of the study, the student performance task that based on the elements topic of the 9th grade chemistry course was performed by the proposed approach in this study.
