MCMASTER AİLE İŞLEVSELLİĞİ MODELİ ÇERÇEVESİNDE AİLE İŞLEVLERİ VE DİJİTAL EBEVEYNLİK FARKINDALIĞININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Öz

Bu çalışma, McMaster Aile İşlevselliği Modeli temelinde, 4-6 yaş arası çocukların ebeveynleri arasında dijital ebeveynlik farkındalığı ile aile işlevselliği arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemeyi amaçlamıştır. Katılımcılar Ankara'da özel bir anaokuluna devam eden çocuklar ve ebeveynleri olmuştur. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama yöntemi kullanılmış olup yarı yapılandırılmış ebeveyn-çocuk bilgi formu, Dijital Farkındalık Ölçeği ve Aile Değerlendirme Ölçeği aracılığıyla veriler toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde t-testleri, ANOVA ve korelasyon analizleri yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar, ebeveynlerin sosyodemografik özelliklerinin, dijital cihaz kullanım kalıplarının ve çocuklarıyla geçirdikleri zamanın hem dijital ebeveynlik farkındalığını hem de aile işlevselliğini yordadığını göstermiştir. Ebeveynlerin çoğu her iki alanda da yüksek puan almıştır; bu da belirli ebeveyn arabuluculuk stratejilerinin erken çocukluk döneminde daha sağlıklı ekran süresi alışkanlıklarını teşvik edebileceğini düşündürmektedir. Çalışma, dijital ebeveynlik uygulamalarının sadece teknik bir beceri olmadığını, McMaster modelinde vurgulandığı gibi iletişim, roller ve davranışsal kontrol gibi aile dinamiklerinin bir uzantısı olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Dijital ebeveynlik ve aile işlevselliği arasındaki bu güçlü bağlantı, dijitalleşmiş bir toplumda aile refahını artırmak için koruyucu ve önleyici müdahale modelleri için stratejik bir temel sağlamaktadır.

EVALUATION OF FAMILY FUNCTIONS AND DIGITAL PARENTING AWARENESS IN THE MCMASTER FAMILY FUNCTIONING MODEL

Öz

This study aimed to examine the relationship between digital parenting awareness and family functioning among parents of 4-6-year-old children, based on the McMaster Family Functioning Model. Participants included children attending a private kindergarten in Ankara and their parents. Using a relational survey model, data were collected through a semi-structured parent–child information form, the Digital Awareness Scale, and the Family Assessment Scale. Analyses involved t-tests, ANOVA, and correlation analysis. Results indicated that parents’ sociodemographic characteristics, digital device usage patterns, and time spent with their children significantly predicted both digital parenting awareness and family functioning. Most parents scored high in both areas, suggesting that specific parental mediation strategies could encourage healthier screen-time habits during early childhood. The study reveals that digital parenting practices are not merely a technical skill, but rather an extension of family dynamics such as communication, roles, and behavioral control, as emphasized in the McMaster model. This strong link between digital parenting and family functioning provides a strategic foundation for protective and preventive intervention models to enhance family well-being in a digitalized society.
