COVID-19'un Hastane Çalışanları ve İş Günü Kayıpları Üzerindeki Etkisinin Değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışma, Koronavirüs Hastalığı 2019 (COVID-19)'un hastane çalışanları ve iş günü kayıpları üzerindeki etkisini değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Retrospektif türde kesitsel olarak tasarlanan çalışmanın evrenini, bir üniversite hastanesinde 11 Mart 2020 ile 31 Mayıs 2022 tarihleri arasında Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu’na COVID-19 kaynaklı iş göremezlik bildirimi yapılan çalışanların yaşamış olduğu iş günü kayıpları oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada örneklem seçimine gidilmemiş, evrenin tamamı değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistiklerden ve korelasyon analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Bulgular: Hastane çalışanlarının %39’unun COVID-19’dan etkilendiği, COVID-19’dan etkilenen çalışanların %69’unun kadın, %49,8’inin 20-29 yaş grubunda olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Pandemiden en fazla hemşirelerin (%31,7) etkilendiği ve katılımcıların %96,2’sinin ayaktan tedavi gördüğü tespit edilmiştir. Yatarak tedavi olanların iş günü kaybı ayaktan tedavi olanlara göre daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Çalışanların iş günü kaybı ile yaş arasındaki ilişki karşılaştırıldığında, istatistiksel olarak pozitif yönde güçlü bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç: Çalışma sonuçları COVID-19’dan en fazla genç yaş grubunun ve hemşirelerin etkilendiğini göstermektedir. Pandemi sürecinde artan sağlık hizmeti talebini karşılamak amacıyla ön saflarda görev alan hastane çalışanlarının yeterli düzeyde korunmasına yönelik tedbirlerin alınması sürdürülebilir sağlık sistemleri için önemlidir.

Evaluation of the Impact of COVID-19 on Hospital Employees and Work Day Losses

Öz

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on hospital employees and workday losses. Material and Method: The population of the retrospective cross-sectional study consisted of the workday losses experienced by employees who had submitted a COVID-19-related work disability notification to the Social Security Institution of the Republic of Turkey (SGK) in the university hospital between March 11, 2020, and May 31, 2022. Sample selection was not made in the study and the entire population was taken into consideration. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: It has been determined that 39% of hospital employees were affected by COVID-19, with 69% being female, and 49.8% of them belonging to the age group of 20-29. Nurses (31.7%) were the most affected by the pandemic, and 96.2% of employees were treated as outpatients. The workday loss was found to be higher among employees receiving inpatient treatment compared to those receiving outpatient treatment. A statistically significant strong positive correlation was found when examining the association between employees' workday loss and age. Conclusion: The study results show that COVID-19 has affected the younger age group and nurses the most. Taking measures to ensure adequate protection of frontline hospital employees, who play a crucial role in meeting the increased demand for healthcare services during the pandemic, is essential for sustainable healthcare systems.
