Duygusal Yeme ve Obezite

Öz

Duygusal yeme; olumsuz duygulardan kaçınmak için besinlerin kullanılması olarak tanımlanabilir. Duygusal yeme obeziteye, yeme bozukluklarına, depresyona ve hormonal problemlere neden olmaktadır. Duygusal yeme nedenleri olarak bazı teoriler ortaya konulmuştur. Bunlardan ‘’kısıtlayıcı yeme‘’, “dışsal yeme‘’, ‘’kaçış teorisi’’ ve ‘’psikomatik teori’’ olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Hollanda yeme davranışı ölçeği de bireyin duygusal yeme tarzını göstermektedir. Obezite hastalarının birçoğunda duygusal yemeye rastlanmaktadır. Buna göre sağlıklı zayıflama tedavisi ve kalıcı ağırlık kaybı için duygusal yemeyi de hesaba katmak gerekmektedir. Bariatrik cerrahi hastalarının da birçoğu duygusal yeme problemi yaşamaktadır ve cerrahiden sonraki uzun süreli başarıyı etkileyen önemli bir risk faktörüdür. Dopamin, serotonin, hormonlar ve besin öğeleri de besin alımı ve yeme miktarı ile ilişkilidir. Duygusal yemeden korunmak için sağlıklı dengeli ve ruh halini destekleyen beslenme alışkanlıkları kazanmak önemlidir. Danışanı bireysel olarak değerlendirmek ve duygusal yeme tarzını bulup ona göre önerilerde bulunmak çok yararlı olmaktadır. Farkındalıkla yemek, farkındalık meditasyonu yapmak, duygu ve besin günlüğü kullanmak çok önem taşımaktadır. Ruh halini etkilediği ve duygusal beslenmeyi azalttığı için egzersiz alışkanlığının da ağırlık kontrol programlarında olmasına mutlaka yer verilmelidir.
