Şeyh Ubeydullah Nehrî’nin Kürt Ulemâ ve Sûfî Çevrelerini 93 Harbine Davet Mektubu

This work focuses on the complete translation of the letter of invitation to jihad written in 1877 by Sheikh Ubaydullah of Nahri, at a time when he was the head of the Nehri Madrasas -one of the most important centers of learning in the Hakkâri and Şemzinan region. The letter was addressed to Kurdish scholars and community leaders, particularly to Kurdish Sufi circles such as the Naqshbandiyya and Qadiriyya. The letter is the only surviving work of Sheikh Ubaydullah, found between pages 141 and 153 of the book Tuhfat al-Ahbāb Masnavī Sānī, and has been examined for the first time through its complete translation into Turkish in this study. In this letter of invitation to jihad, which he modestly called a naṣīḥat-nāma (admonitory letter), Sheikh Ubaydullah Nehri states that the letter was written at the request and behest of the Ottoman Empire and Sultan Abdulhamid. He clearly states in the aforementioned poetic work that the request for Kurdish scholars and Sufi circles to join the Ottoman side against the Russians in the 93 War came from the sultan. Written in a heavy prose mixed with Arabic and Persian, the letter is not only a call to jihad with a specific historical context; it is also an important document showing how religion, politics, and society were perceived in the late Ottoman period. It is also a powerful example of political loyalty legitimized by religious references, moral mobilization, and the construction of collective religious identity.

Bu çalışma Şeyh Ubeydullah Nehrî’nin Hakkâri ve Şemzinan bölgesinin en önemli ilim merkezlerinden olan Nehrî Medreselerinin başındayken 1877 yılında Kürt ulemâ ve kanaat önderlerine özellikle de Nakşibendiyye ve Kadiriyye gibi Kürt sûfî çevrelerine hitaben kaleme aldığı cihada çağrı/davet mektubunun eksiksiz çevirisine odaklanır. Mektup, Şeyh Ubeydullah’tan geriye kalmış yegâne eseri Tuhfetü’l-Ahbâb Mesnevî-i Sanî adlı eserin 141 ve 153. varakları arasında yer alan bir mektuptur ve ilk kez bu çalışmayla Türkçeye eksiksiz tercüme edilmek suretiyle incelenmiştir. Şeyh Ubeydullah Nehrî, bir tevazu ifadesi olarak nasihatnâme adını verdiği bu cihada davet mektubunda, söz konusu mektubun Osmanlı Devleti ve Sultan Abdulhamid’in talebi ve isteği doğrultusunda yazıldığını belirtirmiş, Kürt ulemâ ile sûfî çevrelerini 93 harbinde Osmanlı’nın safında Ruslara karşı savaşa iştirak etmeye dönük talebin sultandan geldiğini, adı geçen manzum eserinde açıkça ifade etmiştir. Arapça ve Farsça karışık ağır bir nesirle kaleme alınmış mektup, yalnızca belirli tarihsel bağlama sahip bir cihad çağrısı değil; aynı zamanda geç Osmanlı döneminde din, siyaset ve toplum ilişkilerinin nasıl algılandığını gösteren önemli bir vesika niteliği taşır. Aynı zamanda dinî referanslarla meşrulaştırılmış siyasal sadakat, ahlâkî seferberlik ve kolektif dinî kimlik inşasının güçlü bir örneğidir.
