Pediatrik Populasyonda Foramen Mentale Lokalizasyonunun Üç Boyutlu Bilgisayarlı Tomografi İle Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Giriş: Foramen mentale, corpus mandibulae’nın ön yüzünde bulunan anatomik oluşumdur. Foramen mentale’nin lokalizasyonu ve tespiti, dental işlemler, endotontik tedaviler, implant uygulamaları, premolar bölgedeki cerrahi işlemler ve lokal anestezinin tam olarak yapılabilmesi açısından önemlidir. Foramen mentale’nin yeri ırklara, kişiden kişiye ve yaşlanmayla değiştiği belirtilmiştir. Amacımız, pediatrik populasyonda foramen mentale’nin lokalizasyonunu bilmek ve yaş, cinsiyet ve yerleşimine (sağ/sol) göre canlı kişilerde üç boyutlu bilgisayarlı tomografi kullanarak değerlendirmektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı tipteki bu çalışma, retrospektif olarak herhangi bir nedenle kraniyal bilgisayarlı tomografisi çekilmiş yaş ortalaması 9,11 (±2,70) olan 99 bireylerin görüntüleri üzerinde yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmamızda foramen mentale’den, alveoler krest noktasına (E1) kadar yaptığımız ölçümlerin otalaması 12,5±2,7 mm, foramen mentale’nin alt kenar boşluğundan, mandibula’nın alt sınırındaki noktaya (E2) kadar yaptığımız ölçümlerin ortalaması 9,1±1,8 mm, foramen mentale’nin medial kenarından, symphysis menti noktasına (E3) kadar yaptığımız ölçümlerin ortalaması 21,4±1,9 mm, foramen mentale’nin lateral kenarından, ramus posterior sınırındaki noktasına (E4) kadar yaptığımız ölçümlerin ortalamasını 46,4±4,4 mm saptadık. Kız-erkek ve sağ-sol karşılaştırmalarında anlamlı bir fark yoktu. Yaş ile E2, E3, E4 ölçümleri ve arasında pozitif yönde korelasyon bulundu. Yaş ile sağ E1 arasında ise negatif yönde korelasyon tespit edildi. Sonuç: Pediatrik populasyonda foramen mentale lokalizasyonun tam olarak bilinmesi premolar bölgede yapılacak olan cerrahi uygulamalarda, anestezi uygulamalarında komplikasyonların azaltılması açısından büyük önem arz etmektedir.

Evaluation of Mental Foramen Localization by Three Dimensional Computed Tomography in Pediatric Population

Abstract

Introduction: Mental foramen is the anatomical formation on the anterior surface of the corpus mandible. The localization and detection of mental foramen is important in terms of dental procedures, endototic treatments, implant applications, surgical procedures in the premolar region and local anesthesia. It is stated that the place of mental foramen changes with races, from person to person and with aging. Our aim is to know the localization of the mental foramen in the pediatric population and to evaluate it using three-dimensional computed tomography in living people according to age, gender and location (right / left). Material and Method: This descriptive study was performed retrospectively on the images of 99 individuals with a mean age of 9.11 (± 2.7) who underwent cranial computerized tomography for any reason. Results: The mean of the measurements we made from the mental foramen to the alveolar crest point (E1) in our study was 12.5±2.7 mm, the average of the measurements made from the lower margin of the mental foramen to the lower limit of the mandible (E2) 9.1±1.8 mm mean of measurements from the medial margin of the mental foramen to the point of the symphysis menton (E3) 21.4±1.9 mm, mental foramen from the lateral edge to the point on the posterior border of the ramus (E4) the mean of the measurements was 46.4 ± 4.4 mm. There was no significant difference between male-female and left-right comparisons. There was positive correlation between age and E2, E3, E4 measurements and negative correlation between age and right E1. There was no significant difference between age and E1. Conclusion: Precise localization of the mental foramen in the pediatric population is of great importance in reducing the complications of anesthesia in surgical applications to be performed in the premolar region.
