Launch Vehicle Selection with AHP and WASPAS Methods

Today, businesses have to make the right decisions for the future in order to make their investments and production processes sustainable. Decisions taken in the past create a strategic road map by shedding light on the future plans of enterprises. In particular, businesses that are undecided in the selection of satellite launch vehicles seek the most appropriate solutions by making use of past data and scientific analyses in order to maintain their current position and guarantee their success in the future. Rapid developments in space technologies in the last century have made satellite systems indispensable for critical areas such as communication, observation and reconnaissance. Launch vehicle selection plays an important role in extending the service life of the satellite and increasing mission success. Determining a launch vehicle or system that is suitable for the mission requirements requires a detailed examination of technical, economic and environmental factors. In this context, Multi Criteria Decision Making methods provide an effective evaluation mechanism in launch vehicle selection processes. This research aims to determine the most appropriate launch vehicle selection by analyzing multiple alternatives and various criteria in artificial satellite projects. In the study, factors such as cost, historicity, success percentage, payload capacity and lifespan impact are evaluated using Multi Criteria Decision Making methods. The results obtained from the research aim to directly contribute to making informed and sustainable decisions in launch vehicle selection. This approach supports the success and sustainability goals of such projects.
