Obesity is an important public health problem worldwide and increases the risk of many chronic diseases. Obesity can also cause health problems such as infertility and polycystic ovary syndrome in women of childbearing age. However, obese pregnant women are at greater risk of preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. Therefore, weight loss in women with obesity will both increase the probability of conception and reduce the risk of complications that may occur during pregnancy. Especially women prefer bariatric surgery for weight loss in recent years. While the risk of complications that may occur during pregnancy decreases with weight loss after bariatric surgery, nutritional deficiencies may occur due to insufficient nutrition and may affect the fetal development of the baby. For this reason, women should not become pregnant for at least 12-18 months after bariatric surgery, necessary supplements should be taken before pregnancy and regular follow-ups should be made. The purpose of this review is to examine how nutritional status after bariatric surgery affects the pregnancy process.
