It makes the supranational conditions dominant that liberal economic principles are made single Standard all over the world and that the tendencies to protect the capital rather than the labour gather momentum. Converging countries with the international labour standards and the growth of increasing competition based on the labour among the countries which lack of the basic labor principles have rendered working contiditions the main work field in this century. While the union movement has been transforming within the extent of the needs of the post-industrial society, Turkish union movement is fact to face with a representation crisis even without being an effective part of the industrial relations. As far as the historical background of Turkish union movement is concerned, it’s possible to point out that the unionist conflict hasn’t been experienced owing to nonexistency of the industrialization and democracy in pre-Republic area. With the multi-party system in 1946, the union movement commenced with legal arrangements, went through its organization and enlargement process between 1946-1960, and reorganization and gold age in 1960-1980. 1980 and afterwards is the third period of Turkish union movement and it covers noticeable distinctions within itself. Current union structure doesn’t meet the expectations of the workers. Furthermore, it makes it formidable for them to adapt to existent conditions. This structure and external factors bring about the acceleration of the loss of members. Where as it’s a relaity that Turkish union movement has been under the effect of the local factors rather than global ones.
