Traces of Arab lnfluence in Spain
Öz
In this article, a famous orientalist Mr. E. Rosenthal is tatking about histarical
heritage that belongs to the Andalus Umayyads which ruled in Spain between 756-1031. Even though article's headline is entitled like " ... Arab ... ", in this article, Mr.
Rosenthal, like many orientalists, takes every lslamic heritage, because of the its
origin, to back to the Arabs. However, we are in agreement with Mr. Rosenthal in this
article's headline because of this presumption: First of all, fırst Muslim community
who went away from home la nd because of the worry about the successor of Abbasid
Dynasty could damage them, arrived to the peninsula, got an idea to establish a state
and after so many diffıculties achieved this aim, was Arabs who were remained from
Umayyads. Likewise, this state was called " ... Umayyad ... " to imply its founders.
Because of this, the author might think this headline for the article. The author
mentions about heritages which belongs to the people who lived in this state and
became superior to others. Furthermore, he talks about the heritages that remained
or was known through same documents in his time. In addition this, Rosenthal does
not neglect to give an information about the Spanish cities and towns that is seen
impact of lslamic culture on them. By the way, he mentions about the histarical
events, especially wars, and Muslim s' socio-economic and cultural conditions
