Ibn Battuta, one of the famous Muslim traveller of the XIVth century, had travelled over the most of the Muslim countries of his time, and while going to China from India for a mission called at some of the harbour cities of Southeast Asia. This paper essentially deals with the extent and importance of his accounts based on his trips and observations in his book of travel with regard to the harbour cities and other places visited by him in Southeast Asia. While sailing through Samudra-Pasai, Mul-Cava and Tawalisi and visiting these countries and their harbour cities, the informations based on his observations and given by him in his book were examined by comparing them with those of other sources and their authenticity were reviewed in some detail. Although we have traced some uncertain remarks needed to be explained in the concemed passages of his book which became a subject of our study, it can be concluded that the most of his accounts concerning with this region are generally in accordance with the other historical facts
