A RESEARCH ON SEPERATION OF FILLED SEEDS OF MELON AND WATERMELON SEEDS DIFFERENT FLOTATION TECHNIQUE AND TIME ON SEPARATING BY FLOTATION IN WATER

Öz

In this study, effects of flotation technique and time on separating filled seeds of watermelon and melon by flotation in water were investigated. Three different flotation techniques and times were used for each seeds. As a result of the tests, the flotation technique in which the seeds were mixed in vertical direction in water, for 1 minute flotation time gave better results than the other used techniques and times. When this technique and 1 minute time were applied, it was determined for watermelon that 84.21% of the filled seeds sank and 95.52% of the sunken seeds were filled seeds. In this technique and time, in spite of 15.79% loss of the filled seeds, seed quality increased at a proportion of 19.52%. In melon that 77.77% of the filled seeds sank and 94.92% of the sunken seeds were filled seeds. In this technique and time, in spite of 22.23% loss of the filled seeds, seed quality increased at a proportion of 22.22%.

FARKLI YÜZDÜRME TEKNİĞİ VE SÜRESİ İLE KAVUN VE KARPUZDA DOLU TOHUMLARIN AYRILABİLMESİ ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Öz

Bu çalışmada, farklı yüzdürme tekniği ve sürelerinin, karpuz ve kavunun dolu, çimlenme özelliği olan tohumlarının ayrılabilmesi üzerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Denemede, 3 farklı yüzdürme tekniği ve süre uygulanmış, bunun sonucunda, tohumların suda dikey yönde 1 dakika süreyle karıştırıldığı deneme daha başarılı bulunmuştur. Bu yüzdürme tekniği ve 1 dakikalık karıştırma süresinde, karpuzda, dolu tohumların %84.21’nin battığı, batan tohumların ise %95.52’sinin dolu tohum olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu teknik ve sürede, %15.79’luk bir dolu tohum kaybı ile, tohum kalitesinde %19.52 oranında bir artış elde edilmiştir. Kavunda ise, dolu tohumların %77.77’sinin battığı, batan tohumların ise %94.92’sinin dolu tohum olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu sürede, %22.23’lük bir dolu tohum kaybı ile, tohum kalitesinde %22.92 oranında bir artış elde edilmiştir.
