EFFECT OF LOW AND HIGH TEMPERATURE ON AVOCADO GROWING

Low temperatures (frost) lived in some years can affect tree and fruit growth in avacado cultivation areas. Factors in tolerance of avacado to cool temperatures such as genetic structure, old and season in which plant was exposured can change damage levels. Lula’, ‘Reed’ and ‘Pinkerton’ varieties were high susceptible, ‘Hass’, ‘Santana’ and ‘Rincon’ were susceptible, Bacon’, ‘Ettinger’ ‘Fuerte and ‘Zutano’ slightly affected from cool temperatures under 0 0C temperatures lived during 24 h and up to -3 0C in observations done in 2004 under Antalya conditions. A intensity in fruit falling was determined after 7-15th day of frost. High temperatures have not negatively affected to tree growth, blossom and fruit growth seasons of avacado. Although excessive high temperature values were determined in some seasons in Antalya conditions, any significantly negative affect of high temperatures (average temperature under 35 0C) on blossom, fruit growth, and foliage parts was determined between April and August under Antalya conditions.

DÜŞÜK VE YÜKSEK SICAKLIKLARIN AVOKADO YETİŞTİRİCİLİĞİ ÜZERİNE ETKİSİ

Öz

Avokado yetiştirilen alanlarda bazı yıllarda meydana gelen düşük sıcaklıklar (don olayı), ağaç ve meyve gelişimini etkileyebilmektedir. Avokadonun düşük sıcaklıklara dayanmasında çeşidin genetik yapısı, ağacın yaşı ve maruz kaldığı dönem gibi faktörler, zararlanma derecesini değiştirmektedir. Antalya koşullarında 2004 yılında yapılan gözlemlerde; 0 0C’nin altında toplam 24 saat ve -3 0C’ye kadar düşen sıcaklıklarda, Lula’, ‘Reed’ ve ‘Pinkerton’ çeşitlerinin soğuğa çok fazla duyarlı, ‘Hass’, ‘Santana’ ve ‘Rincon’un hassas olduğu, Bacon’, ‘Ettinger’ ‘Fuerte ve ‘Zutano’nun soğuktan hafif oranda etkilendiği görülmüştür. Don olayından 7-15 gün sonra, yoğun bir şekilde meyve dökümlerinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Yüksek sıcaklıklar, avokadonun ağaç gelişimini, çiçeklenme ve meyve gelişimi dönemlerini olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir. Antalya koşullarında, bazı dönemlerde aşırı yüksek sıcaklık değerleri tespit edilmesine rağmen, Nisan-Ağustos ayları arasında yüksek sıcaklıkların ortalamasının 35 0C’nin altında olması nedeniyle çiçeklenme, meyve gelişimi ve ağaç aksamları üzerinde önemli olumsuz bir etki saptanmamıştır.
