(MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING)

Öz

This paper examines materials development as a specific field of study in foreign language teaching. Materials development includes developing and evaluating materials by studying on the principles and procedures of language teaching design. Materials include anything which can be used to facilitate the learning of a language. They can be linguistic, visual, auditory or kinesthetic, and they can be presented in print, through live performance or display, or on cassette, CD-ROM. Materials development which uses the principles of Second Language Acquisition Research, requires a systematic process. During this process teachers and learners can develop materials as well as professional material writers. Materials adaptation and materials evaluation are the basic fields of the materials development study

Öz

Araç geliştirme 1990’lı yıllardan bu yana özgül bir çalışma alanı olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Çalışma alanı olarak araç geliştirme, dil öğretim tasarımlarının ilke ve işlemleri üzerinde çalışarak araçlar oluşturmayı ve değerlendirmeyi içerir. Dil öğretimi için özel olarak tasarlanmış ders ve çalışma kitapları, görsel, işitsel ya da duyu-devinimsel nitelikli etkinlikler, özgün metinler ve gerçek nesneler dil öğretim araçlarını oluştururlar. İlkelerini İkinci Dil Edinimi Araştırmalarından alan araç geliştirme dizgeli bir çalışma süreci gerektirir. Söz konusu ilkeler araçların niteliklerinde belirleyici bir rol oynar. Bu süreçte araç yazarlarının yanı sıra öğretmenler ve öğreniciler de araç geliştirebilirler. Araç uyarlama ve değerlendirme bu alan içinde ele alınan diğer çalışma konularıdır
