Toplumsal Değişme ve Din: Bir Kitap İncelemesi
Öz
Bu çalışma, Din Sosyolojisi alanında önemli bir yere sahip olan Toplumsal Değişme ve Din adlı eserin analitik bir incelemesini sunmaktadır. Eserde yazar, toplumsal değişim ile din arasındaki ilişkiyi sosyolojik, tarihsel ve Kur’an merkezli bir perspektifle ele almakta; değişimi hem evrensel bir toplumsal olgu hem de metafizik temellere sahip bir süreç olarak değerlendirmektedir. Kitap üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde toplumsal değişim ve din kavramları sosyoloji disiplini çerçevesinde ele alınmakta; değişimin türleri, dinamikleri ve toplumsal yapılarla ilişkisi tartışılmaktadır. İkinci bölümde din ile toplumsal değişim arasındaki karşılıklı etkileşim, dinin değişimi engelleyici, destekleyici veya bizzat değişimin ana faktörü olabileceği farklı örnekler üzerinden analiz edilmektedir. Üçüncü bölümde ise Kur’an’da toplumsal değişim sünnetullah, ecel ve değişimi ifade eden temel kavramlar bağlamında incelenmektedir. İncelemede, dinin toplumsal değişim üzerinde etkili olduğu kadar toplumsal değişimin de dinî yapı ve yorumlar üzerinde dönüştürücü bir etkiye sahip olduğu vurgulanmaktadır. Çalışma, özellikle Kur’an’daki değişim kavramlarını sosyolojik bir bakış açısıyla ele alması bakımından literatüre özgün bir katkı sunmakta ve din–toplum ilişkisini bütüncül bir çerçevede değerlendirmektedir.

Social Change and Religion: A Book Review
Öz
This study presents an analytical review of the book Social Change and Religion, which occupies a significant place in the field of Sociology of Religion. In the book, the author examines the relationship between social change and religion through a sociological, historical, and Qur’an-centered perspective, conceptualizing change as both a universal social phenomenon and a process grounded in metaphysical foundations. The book consists of three main chapters. The first chapter discusses the concepts of social change and religion within the framework of sociology, focusing on the types, dynamics, and structural dimensions of change. The second chapter analyzes the reciprocal relationship between religion and social change by examining how religion may function as an inhibiting, supporting, or primary factor in processes of change through various historical and religious examples. The third chapter addresses social change in the Qur’an by examining key concepts such as sunnatullah, ajal, and other Qur’anic terms associated with transformation and change. The review emphasizes that religion not only influences social change but is also shaped and transformed by changing social conditions. By interpreting Qur’anic concepts of change through a sociological lens, the book offers an original contribution to the literature and provides a comprehensive framework for understanding the dynamic relationship between religion and society.
