Trends in Yoga-Based Rehabilitation for Women with Disabilities

Öz

This study aims to analyze global research trends on yoga as a rehabilitation tool for women with disabilities, highlighting its impact on physical, mental, and social well-being. The research explores thematic areas, key contributors, and geographical distributions within the field to identify gaps and future opportunities. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Web of Science database to identify relevant studies published up to 1975-2023. The search included the keywords "disability women","disability female" and "yoga". A total of 116 peer-reviewed publications were analyzed for thematic focus, authorship, attributions, and collaboration networks. Data were visualized using VOSviewer software to map key trends and relationships within the literature. Findings reveal that yoga significantly contributes to the rehabilitation process for women with disabilities, improving physical mobility, chronic pain management, and mental health. The United States, India, and Germany emerged as leading contributors, with most studies emphasizing quality of life, rehabilitation practices, and mental health impacts. Yoga serves as an effective rehabilitation strategy for women with disabilities, offering multidimensional benefits. This study underscores the need for inclusive, global research and highlights yoga’s potential for improving rehabilitation policies and practices. The findings provide actionable insights for practitioners, policymakers, and researchers in disability and rehabilitation sciences.
