Anatomical and Clinical Aspects of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: An Overview of the Literature

Öz

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), one of the most common traumatic neuropathies, occurs when the median nerve compresses into the carpal tunnel. It’s more common in middle-aged female. It is usually idiopathic, but it is also effective in predisposing factors. Strong and repetitive flexion-extension movements of the hand wrist increase the risk of CTS. In the area of the median nerve distribution, motor and sensory dysfunctions that interfere with daily activities occur. Various provocation tests, ancillary questionnaires, two point discrimination test, neurotransmission studies are performed for diagnosis. Generally, conservative and surgical treatment methods are used according to the patient’s disease.
