21. Yüzyılın kültürel oluşumunda öne çıkan en önemli gelişme internetin keşfiyle birlikte, iletişimin elektronikleşmesidir. Teknoloji, iletişim ve medyanın şekillendirici gücüyle birlikte çok katmanlı bir kültürel dönüşüm sürecine girilmiştir. Teknolojiyle toplumu özdeşleştiren M. Castells (2009), The Rise of the Network Society’de yeni medyada ağların, toplumun sosyal morfolojisini (1) oluşturduğunu ve kültürel süreçleri kökten değiştirdiğini savunmaktadır.

On Digital Culture “Towards Understanding the Multi-layered Structure of Culture in the Digital Age of the 21st Century”

Öz

In the cultural formation of the 21st century, the most prominent development is the electronicisation of communication that has taken place with the advent of the internet. The shaping power of technology, communication and the media has ushered in a multi-layered process of cultural transformation. Identifying society with technology, M. Castells (2009), in The Rise of the Network Society, argues that in new media, networks constitute the social morphology(1) of society and radically transform cultural processes.
