A Research in the Context of the Social Constructivism of Technologyand social change

Öz

The structural transformations brought about Industrial Revolution show that it’s necessary to take technology into consideration on the subject of social change issue. Technological determinism that attributes a mechanical causality between technology and social change, and which also affirms technolgy as the only factor driving the social change, remained valid for a long time. However, by claming that technology is autonomous, technological determinism completely rules the impact of technology out on social change. The social construction of technology (SCOT) approach emerges as a reaction to the technological determinism based upon the assumption that technology and society are constructed together. The main purpose of this article is to reconceive the relation between technology and society in consideration of the theoretical frame of social construction of technology (SCOT) approach. Consequently, constructivism provides a more comprehensive point of view with its emphasis on the relationality between technology and society

Teknoloji ve Toplumsal Değişim İlişkisinin Sosyal İnşa Kuramı Bağlamında İncelenmesi

Öz

Sanayi Devrimi’nin beraberinde getirdiği yapısal dönüşümler, toplumsal değişim analizlerine teknolojik gelişmelerin dahil edilmesini zorunlu kılmıştır. Teknolojik gelişmelerle toplumsal değişim arasında mekanik bir nedensellik kuran ve teknolojiyi toplumsal değişimin yegâne belirleyeni kabul eden teknolojik determinizm, uzun süre geçerliliğini korumuştur. Ancak teknolojiyi otonom bir güç olarak kabul eden determinist kuram, toplumsal yapının teknoloji üzerindeki etkilerini tamamen inceleme dışı bırakmaktadır. Teknolojik determinizme bir tepki olarak doğan Teknolojinin Sosyal İnşası Kuramı ise, toplum ve teknolojinin ortaklaşa inşa edildiği varsayımına dayanır. Bu çalışmada yapılmak istenen, sosyal inşa kuramının kavramsal çerçevesi ışığında, teknoloji-toplum ilişkisinin yeniden değerlendirilmesidir. Sonuç olarak sosyal inşacı bakış, toplum ve teknoloji arasındaki etkileşime yaptığı vurgu ile daha bütüncül bir kavrayış sunmaktadır
