Öz

Bruch’s Romanze, Op. 85, one of the most important works in the viola repertoire, was composed in 1911 by Max Bruch (1838-1920). The piece stands as a clear example that reflects the distinctive qualities of late Romanticism at the turn from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. This single movement work, which foregrounds the viola and showcases its rich timbre, was dedicated to the eminent violist of the period, Maurice Vieux (1884-1951).
Although contemporaries such as Johannes Brahms and Robert Fuchs and later Paul Hindemith created a significant legacy of works fort he viola, Romance, Op. 85 has secured a lasting place as one of the most frequently chosen pieces in both concert performance and academic study. With its melodic and harmonic richness and technically demanding passeges, it elevates the viola from an accompanying role to that of a fully fledged solo instrument. Endowed with exceptional technical writing, the work possesses a distinctive significance in terms of its musical fabric and its use across both performance and pedagogical contexts.
In this study the form, technical and interpretive dimensions of Bruch’s Romance, Op. 85, which holds a special place in the viola repertoire. It aims to offer both performers and educators a contribution that is grounded in the literature while also oriented toward practical application.

Max Bruch’un Romanze Op. 85 Adlı Eserinin Form ve İcra Teknikleri Açısından İncelenmesi

Öz

Viyola repertuvarının en önemli eserlerinden biri olan Bruch Romanze Op.85, Max Bruch (1838-1920) tarafından 1911 yılında bestelenmiştir. Eser, 19. yüzyıl sonu ile 20. yüzyıl başı arasında geç romantizmin özgün niteliklerini yansıtan belirgin bir örnek teşkil eder. Viyolayı ön planda tutan ve onun zengin tınısını sergileyen bu tek bölümlük yapıt dönemin saygın viyola virtüözü Maurice Vieux (1884-1951)’ ya ithaf edilmiştir.
Bruch’ un çağdaşı besteciler arasında Johannes Brahms, Robert Fuchs ve daha sonra Paul Hindemith gibi isimler viyola için yazdığı eserlerle önemli bir miras oluşturmuş olsa da, Romanze Op.85 hem konserlerde hem de akademik çalışmalarda en çok tercih edilen eserlerden biri olarak kalıcı yer edinmiştir. Melodik ve armonik zenginliği ile teknik açıdan zorlayıcı pasajları sayesinde viyolayı eşlik çalgısı olmaktan çıkarıp tam anlamıyla bir solo enstrüman olarak göstermiştir. Olağanüstü bir teknik donanımla bezenmiş olan bu yapıt, müzikal dokusuyla kullanıldığı alanlar bakımından kendine özgü bir önem taşımaktadır.
Bu çalışmada, Bruch’un viyola repertuvarı açısından özel bir yere sahip olan Romanze Op.85 adlı eserinin form, teknik ve yorumlama boyutları incelenmiştir. Araştırma hem icracılar hem de eğitimciler için esere yönelik literatür ve uygulamalı bir katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır.
