Öz

Sanatın en temel yönlerinden biri, temsilin olanaklarını ve sınırlarını sürekli sorgulamasıdır. Korkunun kalemi H. P. Lovecraft’ın kozmik korku anlatıları bu sorgulamanın uç biçimlerinden birini sunar; çünkü onun metinleri, insan zihninin kavrayışını aşan ve dile getirilemeyenin etrafında oluşan bir deneyim alanı açar. Jacques Lacan’ın psikanalitik kuramında gerçek kavramı ile borromean halkaları üzerinden geliştirdiği topolojik düşünme biçimi, Lovecraft’ın sanatında görülür hale gelen bu temsil edilemeyen alanı tartışmak için verimli bir teorik çerçeve sunmaktadır. Bu makalenin amacı özellikle Cthulhu’nun Çağrısı başta olmak üzere Lovecraft’ın eserlerinde temsil ve dilin sınırlarını zorlayarak betimlediği varlıkların, Lacan’ın borromean halkaları içerisinde olan ancak simgesel düzenin dışında kalan ve temsil edilemeyen gerçek ile nasıl ilişkilendiğini göstermektir. Bu durum çalışmanın önemini de belirlemekte; Lovecraft’ın psikanaliz gibi farklı disiplinlerle nasıl birlikte çalıştıklarına dair de güncel bir çerçeve sunmaktadır. Çalışmada öncelikle Lacan’ın gerçek, bilinçdışı, sinthome gibi kavramları topolojik bir çerçevede açıklanmış, ardından Lovecraft’ın eserlerindeki anlatılar ile ilişkilenmesi teorik zeminde çözümlenmiştir

Lovecraft’s Art in the Topology of the Real

Öz

One of the most fundamental aspects of art is its continual interrogation of the possibilities and limits of representation. H. P.Lovecraft’s cosmic horror narratives offer one of the most extreme forms of this inquiry, for his texts open an experiential field organized around what exceeds human cognition and the unsayable. The concept of the Real and the mode of topological thinking, as developed through the Borromean rings in Jacques Lacan’s psychoanalytic theory, offer a productive theoretical framework for discussing this unrepresentable domain that becomes visible in Lovecraft’s art. Focusing on The Call of Cthulhu, the paper argues that Lovecraft’s entities and scenes of perceptual breakdown stage encounters with a Real that is knotted to, yet irreducible to, the Symbolic. It first outlines the Real, the unconscious, and the sinthome within Lacan’s topology, then traces how narrative gaps, excessive description, and disrupted signification function as points where the Real persistently insists.
