Öz
It is known that students cannot reach the health-related outcomes in the current physical education and sports curriculum in Turkey at an adequate level. Based on this problem, the aim of this study is to examine the reasons why the students who stated that they could not reach the health outcomes in the programme could not reach the health outcomes from the perspective of the students within the framework of the Socio-Ecological Model. In this study, case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used and the sample group was reached by purposeful sampling method. Three different focus group interviews were conducted with 12 students and analysed using thematic analysis method. According to the findings, it was found that the students who could not achieve the 7th grade health outcomes in the Physical Education and Sports Course Programme 1) Individually, Students had little knowledge, desire and awareness about health; 2) Socially, they experience peer pressure and do not have family support; 3) Regarding the physical environment, it was concluded that the only environment where they can achieve health gains is school, but the infrastructure for participation in physical activity is inadequate at school; 4) In the context of political reasons, it was concluded that they could not find enough time to achieve health gains and their theoretical courses were too intense. In order for students to gain health outcomes, it is recommended to increase students' awareness about health and physical activity, increase peer and family support, improve the physical structure of schools and develop policies that students can participate in physical activity.
