The present study was planned to evaluate
effects of calf sex, service period, parity number and calving season on milk
yield performance of Holstein dairy cows. The experiment was carried out on 106
Holstein cows in Kazova Vasfi Diren Agriculture Farm. Lactation milk yield,
305-d milk yield and lactation length of Holstein dairy cows were 9282.2 kg,
8942.5 kg and 312.5 days, respectively. Effects of calf sex and calving season
on lactation milk yield, 305-d milk yield and lactation length were not
significant (P>0.05). Lactation milk yield and 305-d milk yield and
lactation length were significantly affected (P<0.01) by service period. The
effect of parity number on lactation milk yield, 305-d milk yield and lactation
length was statistically significant (P<0.05; P<0.01). The results of our
study showed that lactation milk yield, 305-d milk yield and lactation length
of Holstein cows born male calf were similar to those cows born female calf;
lactation milk yield, 305-d milk yield and lactation length increased by
increasing of service period; lactation milk yield increased up to 3rd parity,
however lactation milk yield decreased at 4th parity; lactation length decreased
by increasing of parity number; milk yield performances and lactation lengths
of cows calved in different seasons were similar, this also shows us that at a
dairy cattle farm conditions, the effect of climatic conditions may be
negligible under optimum feeding and management conditions.
