In our century called as the era of information age,
people reach the information easier and faster than before. Along with the
developing computer technology and digital technology has an indispensable
place in the lives of individuals. In the information age in which technology
develops so fast, it is named differently according to the characteristics of
living and using technology.
Digital natives, also known as those born in the
technology era, and digital immigrants who were born before the technology era
and later incorporated technology into their lives are classified as digital
hybrids reflecting the common characteristics of digital natives and digital
immigrants. The main distinction in this classification is the use of
technology by individuals. Pensky called digital natives as those who came to
the world in the era of technology, computer games, video games and the internet
as the ones who place the foundation of his life and those born after the
1980s. Those born after the technology period were first to use a technological
device or program to read the manual and then to use the program, the people
who came to the world before the 1980s were called digital immigrants by Pensky.
The rapid developments in technology
have changed the ways of communicating, sharing and introducing the individuals
with their lifestyles. The development of Web 2.0 has evolved into social networks
that people use to promote themselves. One of the most preferred social
networks in Web 2.0 is Instagram. In this study, it is aimed to measure the effects of social networks on the communication, sharing, learning, education and socialization of digital natives by determining Instagram usage characteristics of them. In this context, the characteristics of the social networks were explained to the digital natives and the questionnaires were applied to them. As a result of the survey, it was tried to determine habits of the use of digital natives in Instagram. In the first part of the questionnaire; it was aimed to determine the characteristics of digital natives such as demographic characteristics and frequency of attachment to social networks. In the second part, it is aimed to determine the properties of people using Instagram. In this study it was found that digital natives behaviors differed according to gender, there was no difference in terms of the time spent by men and women in social networks during the day, digital natives behaviors followed by people with the same areas of expertise in Instagram, and women made instant decisions compared to men in it. SPSS program was used for statistical analysis.

Bilgi çağı dönemi
olarak isimlendirilen yüzyılımızda; kişiler bilgiye eskisinden daha kolay ve
daha hızlı ulaşmaktadır. Gelişen bilgisayar teknolojisi ile beraber, dijital
teknoloji bireylerin hayatında vazgeçilmez bir yere sahiptir. Teknolojinin bu
kadar hızla geliştiği bilgi çağında kişiler teknolojiyle yaşama ve teknolojiyi
kullanma özelliklerine göre farklı isimlendirilmektedir. Teknoloji döneminde
dünyaya gelenler olarak da nitelenen dijital yerliler ile teknoloji döneminden
önce doğup teknolojiyi sonradan hayatına dâhil eden dijital göçmenler, dijital
yerlilerin ve dijital göçmenlerin ortak özelliklerini yansıtan dijital melezler
olarak sınıflandırılmaktadır. Bu sınıflandırmada temel ayrım kişilerin
teknoloji kullanımıdır. Pensky, dijital
yerlileri; teknoloji döneminde dünyaya gelenler, bilgisayarı, video oyunlarını
ve interneti kullanmayı hayatının temeline yerleştirenler olarak ve 1980li
yıllar sonrasında doğanlar olarak adlandırmıştır. Pensky, teknoloji döneminden
sonra doğanları ise teknolojik bir cihazı ya da programı kullanmak için ilk
olarak kullanma kılavuzunu okuyup daha sonra programı kullanan, 1980’li
yıllardan önce dünyaya gelen kişileri dijital göçmenler olarak adlandırmıştır.
Teknolojide yaşanan
hızlı gelişmeler bireylerin yaşam şekilleri ile beraber, iletişim, paylaşma, kendilerini
tanıtma şekillerini de değiştirmiştir. Web 2.0’ın gelişimi ile beraber gelişen
sosyal ağlar kişilerin kendilerini tanıtmak için kullandıkları mecralara
dönüşmüştür. Web 2.0’da gelişen sosyal ağlar içinde en çok tercih edilenlerden
biri ise Instagramdır.
