“YOKSULLUK VE SOSYAL DIŞLANMA” İLİŞKİSİ BAĞLAMINDA TELEVİZYON DİZİLERİNDE TEMSİL ANALİZİ: NOT DEFTERİ DİZİSİ

Öz

Bu çalışma, yoksulluk ve sosyal dışlanma ilişkisini 2014 yılında FOX’ta yayınlanan Not Defteri isimli Türk televizyon dizisi üzerinden ele almaktadır. Nitel bir araştırma sürecinin takip edildiği çalışmada, tematik analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Dizi, gelir seviyesi farklılıklarının çeşitli yoksulluk tipleriyle görünür olduğu durumlara eğilirken yapısal sorunlara da dikkat çekmektedir. Bu noktada, yoksulluğun mekânsal tezahürlerine ve sosyal dışlanma süreçleriyle kesiştiği noktalara yer vermeyi hedeflemektedir. Çalışmada toplanan sözel veriler transkripsiyon sürecinden geçirilerek, yoksulluk ve sosyal dışlanma genel temaları üzerinden analiz edilmiştir. Kodlama aşaması tamamlandıktan sonra raporlama sürecinde temayı güçlü şekilde temsil eden örnek sahneler kullanılmıştır. Diziye yerleştirilen alt metnin ne olduğu tartışması ise söylem çözümlemesi yoluyla açıklanmıştır.
Çalışmanın bulguları, mekânsal ayrışmanın yoksulluğun bir sonucu olarak ortaya çıktığını ve sosyal dışlanma dinamiklerinin kaynağını oluşturduğunu göstermektedir. Bu dışlama eylemleri, söylem pratikleri aracılığıyla stereotipleştirme ve damgalamalar şeklinde kendini gösterebilmektedir. Teorik çerçeve ile desteklenen bu çözümleme, farklılıkların biz-öteki kamplaşması hâlini aldığı tablonun toplumsal alanda sosyal ve fiziki mesafeleri derinleştirdiğini ortaya koymaktadır.

REPRESENTATION ANALYSIS IN TELEVISION SERIES IN THE CONTEXT OF "POVERTY AND SOCIAL EXCLUSION" RELATIONSHIP: NOT DEFTERİ SERIES

Öz

This study examines the relationship between poverty and social exclusion through the Turkish television series Not Defteri, which aired on FOX in 2014. In the study, where a qualitative research process was followed, the thematic analysis method was used. The series draws attention to structural problems while addressing situations where income level differences are visible through various types of poverty. At this point, it aims to include the spatial manifestations of poverty and its intersection with social exclusion processes. The verbal data collected in the study were transcribed and analyzed through the general themes of poverty and social exclusion. After the coding phase was completed, sample scenes that strongly represented the theme were used in the reporting process. The discussion of the subtext embedded in the series was explained through discourse analysis.
The findings of the study show that spatial segregation emerges as a consequence of poverty and constitutes the source of social exclusion dynamics. These acts of exclusion can manifest themselves as stereotyping and stigmatization through discourse practices. This analysis, supported by the theoretical framework, reveals that the picture in which differences become us-other polarization deepens social and physical distances in the social sphere.
