Öz

Karl Gunnar Myrdal İsveç kökenli, Nobel İktisadi Bilimler Anma Ödülü sahibi, profesyonel meslek yaşamı benimsediği cesur, yenilikçi, idealist, nesnel ve gerçekçi metodoloji ve ortaya koyduğu ilham verici ve etkileri azalmadan günümüzde de devam eden öncü çalışmaları münasebetiyle halen bilim dünyasında yüksek derecede ilgi görmeye devam etmekte olan bir ekonomist ve sosyologdur. Karl Gunnar Myrdal akademik çalışmalarında genel olarak, kalkınma ekonomisi ile sosyoloji ve siyaseti mezcetmiştir. Bu bakımdan bu çalışmada, öncesinde tarihi bir şahsiyet olarak Karl Gunnar Myrdal’ın biyografisi hakkında özet bir bilgi sunulacaktır. Müteakiben kendisinin ilkin dünyaca meşhur olmasına vesile olan ''Amerikan İkilemi: Siyahi Sorunu ve Modern Demokrasi'' ve sonrasında Nobel ödülü almasını sağlayan "Asya Dramı: Ulusların Yoksulluğu Üzerine Bir Soruşturma" eserleri ile bilimsel çalışmalarına temelde dayanak teşkil ettiği "döngüsel kümülatif nedensellik" yaklaşımı çerçevesinde bir inceleme gerçekleştirilecektir. Bu kapsamda burada Karl Gunnar Myrdal’ın bilimde nesnellik, gerçekçilik, görelilik ve eklektizm kavramları ekseninde şekillenen temel bilimsel yaklaşım ve tutumu noktasında hususen bir yorum ve değerlendirme gerçekleştirilecektir.
