PRODUCTION BALANCE IN INTERNATIONAL PETROLEUM MARKET: A GAME THEORY APPROACH

Öz

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of OPEC and non-OPEC countries in the oil production decisions with game theory. For this purpose, the production quantity and sales price series for the 1980-2015 period belonging to two countries, namely OPEC and non-OPEC countries were used in the analysis. In the analysis, it is desired to determine what the quantities of oil production should be based on decision mechanisms, and which decision units make up the ideal points for each other's production. According to the analysis results, It has been found that the decision mechanisms have reached the lowest price in the optimal benefit in the production quantities they have. According to these results obtained from the analysis, the duopoly structure of the international oil market shows that both groups are dependent on each other in the decision-making process and are in a game in both groups

ULUSLARARASI PETROL PİYASASINDA ÜRETİM DENGESİ: BİR OYUN TEORİSİ YAKLAŞIMI

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı petrol üretim kararlarında OPEC ve OPEC dışı ülkelerin etkilerini oyun teorisi ile araştırmaktır. Bu amaçla, OPEC ve OPEC dışı ülkeler olmak üzere iki gruba ayrılan ülkelere ait ve 1980-2015 dönemini kapsayan üretim miktarı ve satış fiyatı serileri analizde kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizde, petrol üretim miktarlarının karar mekanizmalarınca ne olması gerektiği ve bu karar birimlerinin hangi fiyattan üretimlerini birbirleri açısında en ideal noktalar oluşturduğu tespit edilmek istenilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre üretim miktarlarında karar mekanizmalarının en ideal faydaya en düşük fiyat aksiyonlarında ulaştıkları tespit edilmiştir. Analizden elde edilen bu sonuçlara göre, uluslararası petrol piyasasının düopol yapısı, her iki grubun karar alma sürecinde birbirlerine bağımlılıklarını ve bir oyun içerisinde olduklarını göstermektedir
