In this study, it was aimed to develop the “Attitude Scale for Lower Secondary School English Course” in order to determine the attitudes of middle school students towards the English course and to prove the validity and reliability of this developed scale. Furthermore, based on the psychometric findings of the scale, the attitudes of lower secondary school students towards English courses were examined in terms of gender, class level, parental education status and academic achievement variables. Data for the study was gathered from 437 students from private and public school students in Konya. According to the findings of exploratory factor analysis of the scale, it was seen that it has a structure composed of one dimension. According to the Cronbach Alpha analysis, the reliability of the scale was found as .86. While there was no significant difference in the attitudes of middle school students towards English language teaching according to their gender status, there were significant differences according to class level. Finally, it was found that there is a significant relationship between students' attitudes towards English language teaching and academic achievement.
