Purulent meningitis developed in accompanying with clinical and laboratory findings at the 5th day of treatment. Pneumococcal antigen was detected in cerebro-spinal fluid and meningitis was treated with meropenem. Development of pneumococal meningitis while receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics for peritonitis is an unusual situation
