Effects of some preparations with acetamiprid active ingredent on greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurades vaporariorum, Westwood)
Abstract
Greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurades vaporariorum, Westwood) damage to many crops in greenhouses and it is the main pest on greenhouse vegetable cultivation. Chemical control is the first solution for the control of whitefly. This study was carried out in two different greenhouses at the same time in 2012 to see if the effect of acetamiprid continues or not by using some original or equivalent preparats. For this purpose; both the original preparats (Mospilan, Sumitomo Chemical) and the equivelant ones (Caniplan, Cansa Kimya) were applied to the Azra F1 tomato variety against greenhouse whitefly in greenhouse in Kınık (Antalya). Applications were by spraying onto the plants. After 6, 10 and 17 days, alive and dead larvaes were counted whereas alive and dead adults were counted after 1 and 3 days. In the end of the experiment Mospilan’s effect on the larvae was respectively, 92.89%, 94.99% and 82.80%, and the effect on adults respectively 94.29%, and 92.17%. Caniplan's effect on the larvae was respectively 93.43%, 94.15% and 82.57% and effect on adults was 94.37%, and 92.06%.
As a result, acetamiprid is still effective on the control of greenhouse whitefly. By the year 2012 due to the prohibition of the many active ingredient there is a small amount of highly effective ingredient against greenhouse whitefly. The frequently and repeated use of the remaining effective active ingredients lead to the problem of resistance and reduction of the active ingredients used against important pest as greenhouse whitefly. It is important and necessary to use licensed active ingredients as an alternative to go over resistance problem.
