An investigations on the population, distribution and damage of the Wooly whitefly, Aleurothrixus floccosus (Maskell) (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) on citrus areas in Izmir province of Turkey

In this study, the wooly whitefly, Aleurothrixus floccosus on citrus orchards in Izmir province was determined. The distribution areas of A. floccosus in the counties of Izmir: Balcova, Cesme,
Guzelbahce, Karaburun, Menderes, Menemen, Narhdere, Seferihisar, Selcuk and Urla were determined in the year 2000 and 2001. In conculation, it is obtained that Karaburun county is completely; Selcuk and Menderes counties are infected partially. Moreover, the population of the species between September 2000 and September 2001 is examined in three infected counties. It is determined that the oviposition period of A. floccosus from may until september and overwinter in nymph stages from september to april. The damage of the species was examined that inner and foot branches were preferred to food and oviposition and the cottonish substances are secreted in the last nymphal stages.

Izmir İli Turuncgil Alanlannda Turuncgil Pamuklu Beyazsinegi Aleurothrixus Floccosus (Maskell) (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae)'un Yayılışı, Zaran ve Populasyon Yogunlugu Üzerinde Arastirmalar

Bu cahsmada yurdumuza yeni bulasan Aleyrodidae familyasmdan turuncqil pamuklu beyazsinek Aleurothrixus floccosus (Maskell)'un lzmlr iii turuncgll bahcelerindeki durumu incelenmistir. Izmir ilinde turuncqil yetistiriciligi yapilan Balcova, Cesme, Guzclbahce, Karaburun, Menderes, Menemen, Narhdere, Seferihisar, Selcuk ve Urla ilcelerinde 2000 yilindaki yayJil~ alanlan belirlenmistir. Sonucta Karaburun ilcesinin tamamen bulasik, Selcuk ve Menderes ilcelerinin kismen bulasik oldugu saptanrrustir. Aynca zararhrun EylUI 2000-Eyli.ll 2001 tarihleri arasmdaki populasyon yogunlugu, bulasik oldugu saptanan uc ilcede ayhk sayimlar yapilarak incelenmistir. Bu degerlere gore A. floccosus (Maskell)'un yumurta birakmasi mayrs aymdan eylul ayma kadar devam etmekte ve eylul aymdan nisan ayma kadar <;ogunlukla nimf bazi yerlerde pupa doneminde kislamaktadir. Zararhnm zarar sekli de incelenmis, beslenmek ve yumurta birakmak icin ozellikle ic ve etek dallan tercih ettigi, son donem nimflerinin pamuksu ve damlalar halinde tath madde zaranni artnrdigi, aym aga<; Uzerinde Dialeurodes citri He birlikte bulunabildigi saptanrrustir.
