Öz

Multiple sclerosis is a central nervous system disease that occurs when the immune system tries to destroy the myelin sheath surrounding nerve cells for defense purposes. Many different methods are used for its diagnosis and it takes a long time to confirm the diagnosis. Although there are clinically approved drugs for treatment for the disease, none of them alone is totally successful and sufficient. Various studies are carried out in which physiotherapy and stem cell therapies are used alone or in combination to increase the success of treatment and the quality of life of patients. In this review, it is aimed to share the treatment approaches used against multiple sclerosis disease.

MULTIPL SKLEROZ HASTALIĞINA KARŞI TEDAVİ YAKLAŞIMLARI

Öz

Multiple skleroz, bağışıklık sisteminin savunma amaçlı olarak sinir hücrelerini çevreleyen miyelin kılıfı yok etmeye çalışması ile ortaya çıkan bir merkezi sinir sistemi hastalığıdır. Teşhisi için çok farklı metotlar kullanılmakta ve tanıyı kesinleştirmek uzun zaman almaktadır. Hastalığın tedavisinde ise klinik onaylı ilaçlar olmasına rağmen hiç biri tek başına tamamen başarılı ve yeterli değildir. Tedavi başarısını ve hastaların yaşam kalitesini arttırmak için fizyoterapi ve kök hücre tedavilerinin tek başına ya da birlikte kullanıldığı çok çeşitli araştırmalar yürütülmektedir. Bu derlemede multiple skleroz hastalığına karşı uygulanan tedavi yaklaşımlarının paylaşılması amaçlanmıştır.
