Design and Implementation of Location Based Training System For Team Sports

Abstract

Sport has been in the area of the most important social activities in society for years. Sport is a tool for intercultural interaction and with the increasing level of competition, it has evolved into a field where prestige and national identity are proven in the world. Cultural, political and economic etc. of rapid changes in technology. It appears to have an effect on many areas. One of the areas affected by technology is sports. Developments in training and health sciences contribute to the correct training of athletes. In this way, the performances of the athletes were improved and their sportive success was increased. Due to the positive effects of technology on sports, it has become a necessity to benefit from sports technologies. With this study, a system has been developed that will allow training tracking and analysis of open field athletes. The developed system allowed the trainer to make a more accurate analysis by collecting the instructions given by the coach to the player, the position of the player, the position of the players on the field, their distance and maximum speed for the trainers. Thus, the efficiency of training could be determined to what extent tactical studies were understood by the athletes and at what rate they were applied to the game. In addition, quantitative data were collected for personal technical and tactical studies according to the in-field performance and kinematic parameters of the players. Besides the advantages of the developed system, there are some limitations. GPS supported systems require satellite signals to access location information. This situation causes it to be used in open field team sports instead of GPS supported indoor team sports. In addition, radio frequency signals such as GPRS and WiFi are required to increase the accuracy of GPS location information. As a result, although the motion analysis is done instantly with low-cost GPS module systems, it should not be ignored that it gives a general evaluation result.
