Öz
Nanopartiküller (NP) 100 nm’den daha küçük boyutta olduğundan dolayı sahip olduğu yüksek yüzey alanı ve enerjisi ile bulk formlarından fiziksel, kimyasal ve biyolojik özellikleri yönünden farklılık göstermektedir. Sahip olduğu bu benzersiz özelliklerinden dolayı sağlık, tıp ve biyomedikal alanlar başta olmak üzere birçok alanda uygulama potansiyeline sahiptir. Son yıllarda araştırmacıların ilgisini üzerinde toplayan NP’ler uzun yıllar boyunca fiziksel ve kimyasal yöntemlerle sentezlenmiştir.
Son yıllarda kanatlı hayvanlarda selenyum gereksinmesinin karşılanması yanında selenyumun hayvansal ürünlerde (et, yumurta) birikmesini ve insanlar içinde önemli olan bu elementin selenyumca zenginleştirilmiş hayvansal ürünlerle alınmasını sağlayacak selenyum kaynakları üzerinde çalışmaktadır. Ayrıca hayvansal ürünlerde selenyum konsantrasyonunun artması, o ürünlerde antioksidan enzimlerininde artmasını sağlayacağından selenyumca zenginleştirilmiş hayvansal ürünler kalitelerinde önemli değişiklikler olmadan depolama sırasında daha uzun bir raf ömrüne sahip olabileceğini bildirmiştirler. Hayvan beslemede kullanılmak üzere yeni bir Selenyum kaynağı olarak selenyum nanopartiküllerin hayvan beslemede kullanılmasının olanakları araştırılarak hayvanlar üzerinde yapılmış bazı araştırmalara yer verilmiştir.
