LEISURE CONSTRAINTS SCALE-28: SCALE DEVELOPMENT, VALIDITY and RELIABILITY STUDY

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to develop a new scale is mostly useful to determine the constraints on recreational

participation of individuals in urban life. Firstly, an initial item pool was formed by using related studies in the

literature and also scales that was developed formerly. Afterwards, some interviews were made with the individuals

in the sample group and a number of items were generated by using these interview forms. The item pool were

administered to 96 male (45.7%) and 114 female (54.3 %), totally 210 academicians with voluntarily participation.

After the data collection, Principle Component Factor Analysis was used for testing factor structure of the

instrument. According to the factor analysis results, 8 factors emerged and remained 28 items explains 73% of

the variance for 210 participants. Participants were asked to rate each item on a 5-point Likert scale ranging

from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). The internal consistency (Cronbach Alpha) value for 210

academicians were ranged from .76 (time) and to .88 (facility). It can be concluded that the scale called "Leisure

Constraints Scale-28" (LCS-28) is a valid and reliable instrument to determine the constraints on recreational

participation of academicians in urban life.

BOŞ ZAMAN ENGELLERİ ÖLÇEĞİ-28: ÖLÇEK GELİŞTİRME, GEÇERLİK VE GÜVENİRLİK ÇALIŞMASI

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, kentsel yaflam sürecinde bireylerin rekreasyonel etkinliklere kat›l›mlar›nda engel

oluflturabilecek faktörlerin belirlenmesinde kullan›labilecek yeni bir ölçme arac› gelifltirmektir. Bu amaçla

öncelikle literatür taramas› sonucunda ulafl›lan çal›flmalardan ve ilgili ölçeklerden faydalan›larak ilk madde

havuzu oluflturulmufltur. Daha sonra, örneklem grubunda yer alan bireylerle görüflmeler yap›lm›fl ve görüflmeler

sonucunda elde edilen formlar incelenmifl ve madde havuzunda yer alabilecek ifadeler tespit edilmifltir. Oluflturulan

bu form daha sonra 96 erkek (%45.7) ve 114 kad›n (%54.3) toplam 210 ö¤retim eleman›na gönüllü kat›l›m yolu

ile uygulanm›flt›r. Verilerin toplanmas› aflamas›nda sonra, ölçe¤in faktör yap›s›n› test etmek için Temel Bileflenler

(Principal Component) analizi uygulanm›flt›r. Analiz sonuçlar›na göre, ölçek 8 faktörlü bir yap›dan oluflmakta

ve ölçekte yer alan 28 madde 210 kat›l›mc› için ölçe¤in %73’ünü aç›klamaktad›r. Ölçekteki maddeler, "Hiç

Etkilemez (1)", "Etkilemez (2)", "Karars›z›m (3)", "Etkiler (4)" ve "Çok Etkiler (5)" fleklinde 5’li Likert tipi ölçek

üzerinde de¤erlendirilmektedir. Ölçe¤in güvenirli¤ini test etmek için hesaplanan Cronbach Alpha iç tutarl›l›k

katsay›s› 210 ö¤retim eleman› için .76 (zaman) ile .88 (tesis) aras›nda bulunmufltur. Sonuç olarak, "Bofl Zaman

Engelleri Ölçe¤i-28" (BEÖ-28) olarak adland›r›lan ölçe¤in, kentsel yaflam sürecinde ö¤retim elemanlar›n›n bofl

zaman etkinliklerine kat›l›mlar›nda engel oluflturabilecek faktörleri belirlemek için geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçek

oldu¤u belirlenmifltir.
