Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate physical and motor characteristics of children who live in the child protection institutions comparing to those of their peer's. This study was carried out on two groups which was composed of the children who were living in the child protection institutions and with their families. There were 30 children in each group, 15 boys , 15 girls at the age often. In this study, body height, body weight, triceps

skinfold, subscapular skinfold, flexibility, standing long jump and sit-up were used as the means of getting data, it was found out that the body height, the body weight, the standing long jump and the sit-up of girls who were living in the child protection institutions were lower than their peers' who were living with their families. As for the boys, the body height, the standing long jump and the sit-up of boys who are living in the child protection institutions were significantly lower than their peers' (p<0,05). It is thought that these results arise from the fact that the children in in the child protection institutions live in deprived of family cirle.
