THE PHYSICAL and PHYSIOLOGICAL PROFILES OF MALE and FEMALE YOUNG NATIONAL TABLE TENNIS PLAYERS
Abstract
Physical and Physiological Profiles of Turkish Male and Female National Table Tenis Players 10 male and 10 female national young tenis players, aged between 16 and 19 were investigated to determine their physical and physiological profiles. Average age, weight and body weight of males were determined as 16.4 years, 172.7 cm and 66.4 kg, for females, 16.9 years, 162.0 cm and52.7kg. At the end of the measurements, Mesomorphy for males and ecto-mesomorphy for female were observed as dominant somatotype component. Lung functions (VC, FVC. FEV1 and MVV) of male player were higher than the other branches, reported in some studies. On the other hand, max V02. anaerobic power, resting heart rate and flexibility scores of female players lower than the other reported studies. Also fat percentage of female players lower and handgrip and leg strength scores were higher than the other branches.The results of male players generally showed similatiries with other studies Especially anaerobic power ad lung functions of male players were higher than scores of other branches.
