A STUDY ON PARTICIPATION AIMS AND EXPECTATIONS OF STUDENT ATHLETES PARTICIPATED INTO SPORT ORGANIZATIONS AMONG UNIVERSITIES.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out participation objectives, expectations and problems of student athletes who paticipated into university sports organizations A total of 623 Students (266 females, 357 males) who participated into sports competitions in 7 different branches organized in 1997-1998 education year were voluntarily participated into this study A questionnaire included 12 questions was given to subjects during competition days in host city. Mean, frequency distrubition and percentage were used to analyse obtained data. As result of data, among the participation aims of student-athletes in to these organizations; While "to be in different climate" was foud as the most important (986.3 Pts.), "to be champion" has the second importance (377.4 Pts), "to earn money" was the last (109.7 Pts). Among expectations of student-athletes "to supply healthy accomodation" has found the most important (415.8 Pts). Among the aims of organizations according to student athletes, while "to better know each other and to improve friendship" was the most important (425 Pts)."to create national teams to have success in international events" was found less important (342.8 Pts)
