INVESTIGATING THE LEARNING MODALITY OF SCHOOL OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORT STUDENTS
Abstract
This research has been made to identify the learning modality of school of physical education and sports students and to research whether this vary in according to their gender, departments which they are receiving training and grade.
Research's sample involves 537 first grade and 545 fourth grade students (total number of 1082) randomly chosen from Interior Anatolia Region's universities School of Physical Education and Sports; Physical Education and Sports Teacher, Sports Management and Coaching departments in 2006-2007 academic year. As data collection in the research; "BIG 16 Learning Modality Inventory" developed by Şimşek (2002) has been used for identify the students' learning modalities and "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher has been used for identify the students' personal characteristics.
In the analysis of learning modalities of students, frequency and percentage distribution among descriptive statistic techniques have been used and Chi-Square test among non-parametric tests has also been used for determine whether learning modalities in significance level vary in according to their gender, department and grade. In the research, the significance level has been approved of 0.05.
At the end of research; More than half of the students (54,6%) are visual, 25,1% of them are kinesthetic, 20,2% of them auditory and students'learning modalities don't vary in according to their gender, department and grade in significance level.
