Öz
Bu yazıda eski eser
piyasasında ortaya çıkan bir Roma Dönemi pirinç külçesi detaylı olarak
tanımlanmaktadır. Büyük ihtimalle bir azatlı olan Gaius Petronius Hermes adı
ile üç kere mühürlenmiştir. Bu kişi daha önceden bilinmemekte ve aynı praenomen ve nomen
gentilium sahibi kişilerle ilişkilendirilememektedir. Günümüze kadar
sadece bir kaç Roma pirinç külçesi bilinmektedir. Sadece Camulodunum'da
(Colchester, Essex – İngiltere) bulunmuş ve İ. S. 60/61 yılı öncesine
tarihlenen bir örnek benzer tiptedir. Bu nedenle makalenin konusu olan külçenin
de benzer bir tarihten (İ. S. 1. yy) olabileceği önerilmektedir.

Öz
A Roman brass ingot,
which appeared on the antiquities market, is described in detail. It is stamped
three times showing the name most probably of a freedman, Gaius Petronius
Hermes. This entrepreneur is otherwise unknown and cannot be linked to other
persons with the same praenomen and nomen gentile. Hitherto only a few Roman
brass ingots are known, and solely one piece is of similar type which was found
at Camulodunum and can be dated to the years before A.D. 60/61. Therefore a
similiar dating (1st century A.D.) is suggested for the ingot described here.
