Attitudes of Sports High School Students Towards Digital Technology

It is an undeniable fact that technology facilitates every aspect of contemporary life. It is of great importance for Turkish sports that educators, administrators, athletes, and students in the field of sports are aware of this reality and adapt to developing technologies. It is important for our country to establish and positively develop digital technology awareness among Sports High School students. Therefore, this study aims to determine the attitudes of Sports High School students in Turkey towards digital technology.
The research population consisted of students studying at Sports High Schools, while the sample group comprised a total of 2,215 students, including 1,564 males and 651 females, enrolled in 14 Sports High Schools across 11 provinces in 6 regions of Turkey during the 2018-2019 academic year. A "Personal Information Form" and the "Attitude Scale Towards Digital Technology" were employed as data collection tools. The study utilized the general survey model, one of the descriptive research models.
Based on the students' mean scores from the Attitude Scale Towards Digital Technology, it was determined that their attitudes towards digital technology were at a moderate level, and significant differences were found in the sub-dimensions of the scale. According to these differences, it was established that male students had higher attitude levels compared to female students. It was concluded that students receiving technology education had higher levels of attitude compared to students not receiving technology education, and that students who owned computers had higher attitudes toward technology. It was determined that as students' computer and internet usage time increased, their attitudes toward technology increased, and that they used digital technology most for social media and least for studying.
