Clinical Outcome Measures Used to Define Surgical Safety in Paediatric Surgery: A Bibliometric Analysis

Purpose: This study was conducted to perform a bibliometric analysis of clinical outcome measures used in defining surgical safety in paediatric surgery. Methods: The Scopus database was selected for this study. A search using selected keywords, based on the date of February 2026, identified 781 publications in the database. Fifty-two publications that did not meet the inclusion criteria (publication year, study design, language of the study, etc.) were excluded, and 629 studies that met the inclusion criteria were exported in the appropriate format (.csv). The data were analysed using the Bibliometrix and Voswiever software via RStudio. Results: The 629 studies meeting the inclusion criteria were published in a total of 221 academic journals. The annual growth rate of these studies was 11.3%, whilst the average publication age was 4.03 years. The number of keywords assigned by the database (ID) was 5,121, whilst the number of keywords specified by the authors (DE) was 1,610. The total number of authors contributing to the studies was 4,081, whilst the international co-authorship rate was 13.35%. The average number of authors per article was 7.91, whilst the number of single-authored articles was 3. It was observed that the highest number of publications occurred in 2025 (n=116), whilst the lowest number occurred in 2016 (n=12). The year with the highest average total number of citations per article was 2017 (24.43), whilst the year with the lowest was 2026 (0.23). The year with the highest annual average total number of citations was again 2017 (2.44), whilst the year with the lowest was again 2026 (0.23). Conclusion: The results of the analysis indicate that the subject retains its strategic importance; particularly when considering the year of publication and the average age of publications, the subject remains relevant, and further research in this area is warranted in the future.

Çocuk Cerrahisinde Cerrahi Güvenliğin Tanımlanmasında Kullanılan Klinik Sonuç Ölçütleri: Bibliyometrik Bir Analiz

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışma, çocuk cerrahisinde cerrahi güvenliğin tanımlanmasında kullanılan klinik sonuç ölçütlerinin bibliyometrik analizini gerçekleştirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Methot: Çalışmada Scopus veritabanı tercih edilmiştir. İlgili veritabanında Şubat 2026 tarihi esas alınarak seçilen anahtar kelimeler aracılığı ile yapılan arama sonucunda 781 yayın tespit edildi. Dahil edilme kriterlerini (yayın yılı, çalışma tasarımı, çalışmanın dili vb.) karşılamayan 52 yayın hariç tutulmuş ve dahil edilme kriterlerini karşılayan 629 çalışma uygun formatta (.csv) dışa aktarılmıştır. Veriler Rstudio aracılığı bibliometrix yazılımı ve Voswiever yazılımı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Dahil edilme kriterlerini karşılayan 629 çalışma toplam 221 akademik kaynakta yayınlanmıştır. Bu çalışmaların yıllık büyüme oranı %11,3 iken, ortalama yayın yaşı 4,03 yıldı. Veritabanı tarafından atanan anahtar kelime sayısı (ID) 5121 iken, yazar tarafından belirlenen anahtar kelime sayısı (DE) 1610 idi. Çalışmalara katkıda bulunan toplam yazar sayısı 4081 iken, uluslararası ortak yazarlık oranı %13,35 idi. Makale başına ortalama yazar sayısı 7,91 iken, tek yazarlı makale sayısı 3 idi. En fazla yayının 2025 yılında (n=116) olduğu, en az yayının ise 2016 yılında (n=12) olduğu görülmektedir. Makale başına ortalama toplam atıf sayısının en yüksek olduğu yıl 2017 (24,43) iken, en düşük olduğu yıl 2026 (0,23) olmuştur. Yıllık ortalama toplam atıf sayısının en yüksek olduğu yıl yine 2017 (2,44) iken, en düşük olduğu yıl yine 2026 (0,23) olmuştur. Sonuç: Gerçekleştirilen analiz sonucunda ilgili konunun stratejik önemini koruduğunu, özellikle çalışmaların yayın yılı ve ortalama yayın yaşı göz önüne alındığında, konunun güncelliğini koruduğu ve gelecekte bu konuda daha fazla araştırma yapılması gerektiği söylenebilir.
