Öz

D-dimer, venöz tromboemboli (VTE) tanısı için tartışmasız yararlı bir araçtır. Bununla birlikte, D-dimer tromboembolik hastalık için spesifik değildir, çünkü D-dimer seviyesinde artma operasyondan enfeksiyonlara ve maligniteye kadar birçok başka durumda da gözlenir. Başka bir deyişle, artmış D-dimer seviyeleri, tromboembolik bir olayın işareti olmaksızın, inflamatuar bir durumun veya kanserin bir parçası olarak ortaya çıkabilir.

D-Dimer: Navigating Clinical Pitfalls and Diagnostic Truths

Öz

D-dimer is unequivocally a useful tool for the diagnosis of venous thromboembolism (VTE). However, D-dimer is not specific for thromboembolic disease because increased levels are also observed in many other conditions, ranging from surgery to infections and malignancies. In other words, increased D-dimer levels may be encountered as part of an inflammatory state or cancer without being a sign of a thromboembolic event.
