Öz

Objective: Hepatitis A is an acute, mostly self-limiting disease of the liver caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV). The goal of the study was to seek the seroprevalence of hepatitis A infection for different age groups in Adıyaman province.

Materials and Methods: In this study, the seropositivity of hepatitis A infection of people who had admitted to Adiyaman University training and research hospital and primary care provider from central regions of Adıyaman city from March 2012 to April 2013 were evaluated, retrospectively.  Existence of anti- HAV IgG antibodies were studied by macro ELISA devices belonging two different manufacturers (Abbott Laboratories and  Roche Diagnostics).

Results: One thousand seven hundred twenty male and 1844 female were included the study (a total of 3564 cases). Anti HAV IgG seropositivity was 77,5% (2761/3564). It was determined that the prevalance was increasing with age. This study found no difference in HAV antibody prevalence between men and women.(p>0,05)

Conclusion: Hepatitis A infection’s serological prevalence profiles vary geographically in the world. In the intermediate endemic areas like Turkey, the latency in the exposure to the virus has constitute  a vast number of susceptible adolescents and extremely increased the average age at infection. The severity of illness increases by age. Implement¬ing vaccination programs for HAV infection, as well as improved hygiene, sanitation, and drinking water quality and quantity are associated with decreased risk of HAV infection.

Adıyaman İlinde Hepatit A Seroprevalansı

Öz

Amaç: Hepatit A, akut gelişen, hepatit A virusun (HAV) neden olduğu genellikle kendini sınırlayan bir karaciğer enfeksiyonudur. Bu çalışmada Adıyaman’da farklı yaş gruplarındaki hepatit A seroprevalansının araştırılması amaçlanmıştır.

Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu çalışmada, Mart 2012-Nisan 2013 tarihleri arasında Adıyaman Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Eğitim Araştırma Hastanesi ile il içerisindeki 1. basamak sağlık kuruluşlarına başvuran ve anti-HAV IgG tetkiki istenen hastaların test sonuçları retrospektif olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Anti-HAV IgG antikorlarının varlığı iki farklı üreticiye ait makro ELISA cihazları  (Abbott Laboratories and  Roche Diagnostics) kullanılarak araştırılmıştır.

Bulgular: Çalışma kapsamındaki 3564 vakanın 1720’si erkek, 1844’ü kadın idi. Anti-HAV IgG pozitifliği 2761 hastada (%77,5) sap¬tandı. Yaş ile beraber artan anti-HAV IgG seropozitifliği tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada cinsiyet ile HAV antikor prevalansı arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanamamıştır. (p>0,05)

Sonuçlar: Tüm dünyada hepatit A enfeksiyonunun serolojik prevalansı coğrafik bölgeler arasında değişkenlik göstermektedir. Türkiye gibi orta endemisite bölgelerinde virus maruziyetinin daha çok ileri yaşlarda ortaya çıkması, ortalama enfeksiyon yaşında ve enfeksiyona karşı hassas adölesan yaş grubu birey sayısında önemli miktarda artışa neden olmaktadır. Özellikle ileri yaşlarda enfeksiyon, daha ciddi ve komplikasyonlu seyir göstermektedir. Hepatit A enfeksiyonuna karşı etkin aşılama programlarının uygulanması ile beraber sanitasyon tedbirlerinin alınması ve kaliteli içme suyuna ulaşımın sağlanmasının ilimizdeki HAV infeksiyon riskini azaltacağı kanaatindeyiz.
