The Role of Leadership Styles of School Principals On Organizational Commitment Based on Teachers’ Perception

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between leadership styles of school principals and organizational commitment of teachers based on teachers’ perception. The sample of the research was consisted of 296 teachers chosen with random sampling method. Organizational commitment scale developed by Balay (2000) and Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire developed by Bass- Avolio (1985) were used in order to collect data. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression analyses. Findings indicated that there is significant correlation between leadership styles and organizational commitment. Furthermore, it was found that the factor which predicts organizational commitment at highest level is transformational leadership style.
