Today and Future of Mobile Mapping via Low Cost UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles)

Abstract This study is a part of a project named “Production of 3 Dimensional High Resolution Maps by Model Air Vehicle at Low Altitude” Supported by Scientific Research Projects of Istanbul Technical University. In this project it is aimed to develop a model plane and helicopter (traditional, quad, hexa or octo-copter), which can take stabilized and coordinated pictures from low altitude and produce 3-D maps with high resolution. While starting the beginning of the twenty-first century, the mapping techniques is rapidly developing and getting easier and cheaper such as mapping by Low-cost UAVs. This paper talks about experiences of studies on the project phases and also discusses about low-cost UAVs which one of the mobile mapping systems such as commercial and amateur UAV aircrafts, autopilots for UAVs, quadra-copter, hexa-copter, octo-copter frames and stabilizers for all copters and the abilities of new generation UAVs and comparison of the low cost UAVs. Düşük Maliyetli İHA (İnsansız Hava Aracı) ile Mobil Harita Üretiminin Bugünü ve Geleceği

Öz

Bu bildiri İTÜ-BAP tarafından desteklenen "Model Hava Araçları ile Düşük İrtifada 3 Boyutlu Yüksek çözünürlüklü Haritaların Üretilmesi" isimli projenin bir çalışmasıdır. Bu projede bir model uçak ve helikopter (geleneksel, quadro, hexa or octo-kopter) geliştirilmiş stabilizesi sağlanmış ve 3B harita yapmak için alçak irtifada koordinatları GPS yolu ile belirlenen resimler çekilmiştir. Proje 3 aşamadan oluşmaktadır. İlk aşama bir prototip model araç geliştirmek, ikinci aşama da model aracın stabilizasyonunu sağlamak ve üçüncü aşamada ise resim çekilerek yüksek doğruluklu 3B harita üretmektir. 21 Yüzyıl başladığından beri harita üretme teknikleri hızla gelişmekte özellikle mobil haritalama yöntemi olan İHA (İnsansız hava Aracı) ile daha kolay bir ve ucuz maliyetli olmaktadır. Bu bildiri daha çok proje aşamalarındaki çalışmalardan bahsedilecek, ayrıca düşük maliyetli İHA’ lar ile mobil harita üretimi, ticari ve ticari olmayan İHA’ lar ve oto pilot sistemleri ve model araçların olanakları ve birbirleri ile üstünlükleri karşılaştırılmıştır.
