Raoul Victor Castex: Bir Stratejik Düşünürün Mirası

Öz

Raoul Victor Castex (1878-1968), 20. yüzyılın önde gelen stratejik düşünürlerinden biri olmasına rağmen, Kıta Avrupası perspektifinden geliştirdiği kapsamlı teorileri, Anglo-Sakson deniz stratejisi geleneğinin gölgesinde kalmıştır. Bu makale, Castex’in deniz ve kara kuvvetlerinin müşterek harekâtı ve denizaltı harbine dair yaklaşımlarını inceleyerek, bu düşüncelerin Türk donanma stratejisi üzerindeki dolaylı ancak önemli etkisini analiz etmektedir. Çalışma, Castex’in beş ciltlik temel eseri olan Théories Stratégiques’in (Sevkulceyş Nazariyeleri) II. Dünya Savaşı döneminde Türkçe’ye çevrilmesiyle Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri doktrinine giren kavramları mercek altına almaktadır. Bu eserin derinlemesine incelenmesi ile Castex’in deniz ulaştırma hatlarının korunması, abluka stratejileri ve denizden kuvvet aktarımı yaklaşımlarını öğrenmek mümkün olacaktır. Türkiye’de akademik erişimdeki kısıtlılık sebebiyle oluşan literatür boşluğunu doldurmayı amaçlayan bu makale, Castex’in teorilerinin Türk askerî düşünce dünyasına katkılarını görünür kılmayı hedeflemektedir. Sonuç olarak çalışma, Castex’in çok yönlü deniz stratejisi mirasının günümüz donanma potansiyeli ve müşterek harekât tartışmaları için önemini vurgulamaktadır

Raoul Victor Castex: The Legacy of a Strategic Thinker

Öz

Despite being one of the leading strategy theorists of the 20th century, the comprehensive theories of Raoul Victor Castex (1878-1968), developed from a Continental European perspective, have been overshadowed by the Anglo-Saxon naval strategy tradition. This article examines Castex’s approaches to the integration of naval and land forces and submarine warfare, analyzing the indirect yet significant influence of these ideas on Turkish military and naval strategy. The study focuses specifically on the conceptual frameworks from Castex’s five-volume seminal work, Théories Stratégiques (Strategic Theories), which were incorporated into Turkish Naval Forces doctrine following its translation into Turkish during the Second World War. This in-depth study of the work will facilitate a more profound understanding of Castex’s approaches to protecting sea lines of communication, blockade strategies, and naval force projection. Aiming to fill a gap in the literature caused by limited academic access in Turkey, this article seeks to highlight the contributions of Castex’s theories to the world of Turkish military thought. In conclusion, this study underscores the enduring relevance of Castex’s multifaceted naval strategic legacy for contemporary debates on naval power projection and joint warfare doctrine.
