Peripheral nerve tumors arise in the cranial nerves, spinal nerve roots, and peripheral nerves. Peripheral nerve tumors [peripheral nerve sheat tumors (PNSTs)] are infrequently reported in dogs and rarely in cats. These tumors ocur most commonly in middle-aged to older dogs of medium and large breeds. Peripheral nerve tumors ocur mainly in the cranial, spinal and asssociated peripheral nerves and less commonly in the automic nerveus system. These tumors arise from Schwann cells, perineurial fibroblast or a combination of these two cell types. PNSTs also classified as schwannomas, neurafibromas and neurofibrosarcomas. Neurofibroma is a benign nerve-sheath tumor in the peripheral nervous system. In this case 5 years old Terrier dog was presented which was brought to our clinic with compleint of swelling back of its left leg. In the examination a big solid swelling, unreleated the bone, was seen on the back of the left femur. After the diagnostic procedure the patient was prepared for the operation. The dog was anesthetized and performed excisional biopsy. As a result of the pathological examination that tumor type was determined neurofibroma.
