COVID-19 Salgını Döneminde Üniversite Çalışanlarının Yaşam Kalitesi ve Algılanan Stres Düzeyi ile Beslenme Alışkanlıkları Arasındaki İlişki

Öz

Yeni bir koronavirüs hastalığının (COVID-19) 30 Ocak 2020'de dünya çapında yayılması nedeniyle, Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ) COVID-19'u küresel bir salgın olarak ilan etmiştir. Bu salgının bireylerin günlük yaşantısındaki tüm düzeni ve alışkanlıklarını tamamen değiştirebileceği görülmüştür. Bu araştırmanın amacı COVID-19 sürecinde üniversitede çalışan bireylerin beslenme alışkanlıklarının, yaşam kaliteleri ve algıladıkları stresle ilişkisini incelemektir. Araştırmaya, Ocak 2021-Mart 2021 tarihleri arasında, online anket yöntemiyle Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi akademik ve idari kadrosundan 172 kişi dahil edildi. Katılımcılara demografik özellikleri ve pandemi sürecindeki alışkanlıklarıyla ilgili soruları içeren form, Akdeniz Diyeti Bağlılık Ölçeği (MEDAS), SF-36 Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği ve Algılanan Stres Ölçeği (ASÖ) uygulandı. Verilerin analizinde Bağımsız Örneklem T Testi, Tek Yönlü ANOVA Testi, Tukey-HSD çoklu karşılaştırma testi kullanıldı. Katılımcıların pandemi süreci vücut ağırlığının artma durumları ile SF-36 puanları arasında fiziksel rol güçlüğü ve genel sağlık algısı alt boyutlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu saptandı (p<0,05). Katılımcıların pandemi süreci vücut ağırlığının artma durumları ile ASÖ puanları arasında yetersiz özyeterlik algısı, stres/rahatsızlık algısı alt boyutlarında ve ASÖ toplam puanında istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu (p<0,05) görüldü. Katılımcıların pandemi süreci beslenme alışkanlığı değişim durumları ve SF-36 puanlarına göre fiziksel rol güçlüğü, emosyonel rol güçlüğü, enerji/canlılık/vitalite, ruhsal sağlık, ağrı ve genel sağlık algısı alt boyutlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu belirlendi (p<0,05). COVID-19’un getirdiği pandemi süreci bireylerin yaşam kalitesini birçok açıdan etkilemiştir. Bu süreçten daha az etkilenmek adına diyetisyen gibi sağlık profesyonellerinden yardım alınması önerilebilir.

The Relationship Between Quality of Life and Perceived Stress Level of University Staff and Nutritional Habits During the COVID-19 Epidemic Period

Öz

Due to the worldwide spread of a new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a global epidemic. It has been seen that this epidemic can completely change the whole order and habits of individuals in their daily lives. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the nutritional habits of individuals working at the university during the COVID-19 process, their quality of life and the stress they perceive. Between January 2021 and March 2021, 172 people from the academic and administrative staff of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University were included with the online survey method. A form containing questions about demographic characteristics and habits during the pandemic process, Mediterranean Diet Adherence Scale (MEDAS), SF-36 Quality of Life Scale and Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) were administered to the participants. Independent Sample T Test, One Way ANOVA Test, Tukey-HSD multiple comparison test were used in the analysis of the data. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the participants' weight gain during the pandemic process and their SF-36 scores in the sub-dimensions of physical role difficulty and general health perception (p<0.05). It was observed that there was a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) in the sub-dimensions of perception of insufficient self-efficacy, perception of stress/discomfort, and the total score of PSS between the participants' increase in body weight during the pandemic process and their PSS scores. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in the sub-dimensions of physical role difficulty, emotional role difficulty, energy /vitality, mental health, pain and general health perception according to the participants' nutritional habits change status and SF-36 scores during the pandemic process (p<0.05). The pandemic process brought by COVID-19 has affected the quality of life of individuals in many ways. In order to be less affected by this process, it may be recommended to seek help from health professionals such as a dietitian.
