Fiziksel Aktivitenin Sağlık Bölümleri Öğrencilerinin Akademik Öz Yeterlik ve Başarılarına Etkisi

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 12 Sayı: 3, 656 - 669, 31.12.2025

Öz

Amaç: Bu araştırma, ön lisans öğrencilerinin fiziksel aktivite düzeylerini incelemek ve fiziksel aktivite düzeylerinin akademik öz yeterlik ve başarıya etkisini belirlemek için yapılmıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini Mersin’de yer alan bir devlet üniversitesinin sağlık hizmetleri meslek yüksekokulunda öğrenim gören sağlık bölümü 2. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 413 öğrenci ise örneklemi oluşturmaktadır. Veriler Eylül –Kasım 2024 tarihleri arasında Birey Tanıtım Formu, Uluslararası Fiziksel Aktivite Değerlendirme Anketi (UFAA) ve Akademik Öz Yeterlik Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır.
Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin %78,5’i kadın ve tüm katılımcıların yaş ortalamaları 20,77±3,18 yıldır.

The Effect of Physical Activity on the Academic Self-Efficacy and Success of Health Department Students

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 12 Sayı: 3, 656 - 669, 31.12.2025

Öz

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the physical activity levels of associate degree students and to determine the effect of these levels on academic self-efficacy and academic success.
Methods: The study population consisted of second-year students enrolled in health-related programs at a state university’s vocational school of health services in Mersin. The sample comprised 413 students who agreed to participate. Data were collected between September and November 2024 using the Individual Information Form, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale.
Results: Of the participants, 78.5% were female, and the overall mean age was 20.77 ± 3.18 years. According to IPAQ scores, 16.2% of students were inactive, 59.9% were minimally active, and 23.9% were very active. Total IPAQ scores were higher among males, full-time employees, and those residing in student housing compared with their counterparts (p <0.05). In addition, students with higher physical activity levels had higher academic success (p = 0.007). There were significant differences between physical activity level and the social status and cognitive applications subdimensions of the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale. Moreover, there was a weak positive correlation between physical activity level and academic success (p = 0.03; r = 0.184), as well as between physical activity level and academic self-efficacy (p <0.01; r = 0.189).
Conclusion: Among students in health-related programs, the number engaging in sufficient physical activity was low, with the majority being minimally active. Increasing students’ physical activity levels may have beneficial effects on improving academic self-efficacy and academic success.
